Halloween Writing Contest Winners
1st WINNER – Level: B1/B1+
…at the language school in English class, Professor Marine explained to her students that on October 30 they would have to come dressed as something, yes, related to Halloween.
The students were expectant, with the costume that their other classmates were going to wear. The academy receptionist, Sylvia and the teachers decorated the center with a spooky atmosphere.
The day before Halloween, a man with a hat and a black cape entered the school and said: TOMORROW THERE SHOULD NOT BE CLASSES, otherwise something bad will happen (He said exhuming, whispering and with a dark voice).
After the words that the man announced, he ran off.
The scared receptionist thought it was a joke, yet a statement was made throughout the center.
Finally, October 30th arrived, all the students showed up in terrifying costumes. One of them had an ax stuck in his head, another was dressed as Dracula and the last student was dressed as the man with a hat.
Terrified Marine asked: What are you disguised as, Jones?
To which he replied: Professor, I’m «Jack The Ripper».
Jones and the two other students, Kevin and Anne were talking amusingly among themselves, while Jones produced a scythe under her cape.
Marine clarified to Jones: Jack did not carry a scythe
But Jones kept insisting; Yeah, but that’s how I make an interpretation of the ripper and death. (said smiling)
5 minutes after class started, the power went out.
Anne gave a terrifying and deafening scream, Kevin and the teacher were perplexed, instead Jones tried to stay calm.
The teacher, still trying to calm the class, felt terrified.
Marine said: What are you doing behind me? (she said scared and stuttering)
Apparently Jones did one of his jokes, but then apologized.
Suddenly, PUUUM! Sylvia entered and confirmed: The power went out
Everyone was screaming AAAAH!
Sylvia: Sorry, the door didn’t open.
They decided to go down to the basement, because they were terrified
(Sylvia, Marine, and the students went down to the basement to go to the fuse box.)
After fixing the problem, the entrance door was suddenly heard opening, and everyone asked:
“Who has entered?”
Sylvia passed them, Marine was surprised that Sylvia had that reaction.
The man in the hat came in and said: Is this the place that’s for sale?
Sylvia nodded and showed him the facilities.
Surprised Marine asked “what are you doing” but she didn’t answer him.
The man asked another question: Was this the classroom where that terrible story happened?
Surprisingly, Sylvia released him with all the naturalness in the world, events that occurred 52 years ago, exactly on October 30, 1968.
The man insisted: But what the teacher did was to murder her students, and then commited suicide.
Marine stunned and with a frightened face raised her voice: NO, I WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS WITH MY STUDENTS (she said angrily)
The man communicated to Sylvia that he was coming with an exorcist to remove the evildoers
Sylvia replied: Many exorcists have come here, even so paranormal events continue to happen.
